A cat in your menu bar

Your Mac
could use a cat
with its own ideas.

Nibkin is a quiet, hand-drawn desktop companion. It keeps you company while you work, wanders when you step away, and occasionally plots something harmless.

Now: spotted

You work. I'll stay here.

More than a looping GIF

It has its rhythm.
It respects yours.

Nibkin chooses its motions from a handful of on-device system states. It never reads your work, yet it knows when to stay quiet and when to peek out.

Keeping you company Quietly waiting, with the occasional blink.

A little cat, just enough

Company, not another
system to manage.

No quests, levels, streaks, subscriptions, or chat box. Every setting serves one purpose: letting this cat live naturally on your Mac.

01

Lives on your desktop

It stays in the menu bar and can walk, rest, and peek along the desktop edge. Its low-key motions never steal input focus.

02

Reacts naturally

Its behavior responds to a few system signals—idle time, battery, and CPU load. Only current values are used; no activity timeline is stored.

You stay in control

Office Mode, Quiet for 30 Minutes, sound, motion, and appearance frequency are individually adjustable. The basic experience needs no sensitive permission.

Privacy is a fact, not a slogan

It lives on your Mac,
not on our servers.

Nibkin needs no account, makes no connection to developer servers, and includes no ads or analytics SDKs. The state it needs is processed on your device.

Good question

Things you may
want to know.

Still curious? Email us. A human will reply—not the cat.

Does Nibkin read what I type?

No. Nibkin reads only the system value for how many seconds have passed since the last input. It never reads keystroke content, screens, windows, files, or the current app name, and it stores no activity timeline.

Does Clipboard Bubbles save copied text?

No. The feature starts off. When enabled, it handles only new plain text copied after activation, keeps up to 40 grapheme clusters for a brief display, then releases it from memory. It never writes the text to disk, back to the clipboard, or to a server.

Is cursor permission required?

No. Cursor Nudge is optional and off by default. The relevant system permission is requested only when you enable it. Denying or revoking access does not affect the menu bar companion or other basic features.

How do I keep it quiet during a meeting?

Turn on Office Mode or choose Quiet for 30 Minutes. Desktop appearances, sound, and mischief stop immediately, and you can resume them whenever you like.

Which systems are supported?

Nibkin is a native menu bar app designed for Mac. It supports macOS 13 Ventura and later.

Does any data remain after uninstalling?

Nibkin creates no account and keeps no server-side profile. macOS stores app preferences locally. You can restore defaults first and use macOS app-data controls to clear any remaining local data.
